UOM

Select the appropriate unit of measure (UOM) for the product from the drop-down list. You can specify a maximum of four units of measure for a product.

Your system's units of measure are created and maintained through the UOM Titles maintenance, which is available from the Product Information folder on the System Configuration screen of the Vision Configuration tab. For more information, refer to Field and button descriptions for the UOM Titles screen.

This is the quantity multiple, which refers to the number of items that encompasses this unit of measure. Following are some examples of units of measure with their corresponding quantity multiples.

Note: Do not change a product's lowest unit of measure. The cost dollars for the product, sales history, purchase orders, and contract pricing are all affected by such a change. It is generally best to set up a new product with a new lowest unit of measure. Please contact Client Services at The Systems House for assistance.

Minimum Sell UOM

This drop-down list contains the units of measure that are included above in the UOM column, except for the smallest unit of measure. If only one unit of measure is set up for this product, then this field is not available.

The default for this drop-down list is None. If appropriate, select the unit of measure that should be used as the minimum sell UOM.

The minimum sell UOM is used for purchasing. It is sometimes more advantageous for a product to be purchased in a unit of measure (UOM) larger than the lowest UOM when it is linked to a customer order. You can establish this by specifying the minimum sell UOM for the product. On the Customer Service tab, this product can be ordered only in this unit of measure or greater. Although a contract can be set up in a unit of measure lower than the minimum sell UOM, the product can be ordered only in a unit of measure greater than or equal to the minimum sell UOM.

This drop-down list is available at the global and warehouse product levels. The option selected for this drop-down list is copied as the default setting for new warehouse products created from the current global or warehouse product; it can be overridden.

Full Case UOM

This drop-down list contains the units of measure that are included above in the UOM column.

Select the UOM for stocking full cases.

In cases where the purchase order UOM is greater than the full case UOM for non-stock and special items, the value for the PO UOM replaces the full case UOM.

This drop-down list is available at the global and warehouse product levels. The option selected for this drop-down list is copied as the default setting for new warehouse products created from the current global or warehouse product; it can be overridden.

UNSPSC

Select the United Nations Standard Product and Service Code (UNSPSC) number, which is used during level three credit card processing. This is not a required field.

The UNSPSC number selected from this drop-down list is printed on credit card statements for customers who are set up to have it included. (The UNSPSC Codes Used check box on the Accounting screen of the Customer Maintenance tab is selected for such customers.)

This field is available at the global product level only; it is unavailable at the warehouse product level. When this field is modified and saved at the global product level, the change is automatically pushed to all of the warehouse products.

Master Pack Qty

This is the quantity multiple in which you must purchase this product from the primary vendor.

For example, let's say that when you purchase a particular product from the vendor, your order quantity must be in the each unit of measure. However, the vendor sells this product in packs of four only. Therefore, you would type 4 in the Master Pack Qty field.

This field is available at the global product level only; it is unavailable at the warehouse product level. When this field is modified and saved at the global product level, the change is automatically pushed to all of the warehouse products.

Warehouse Product Updates

If you change the data in certain fields for a warehouse product record, you can have that data pushed to other warehouses on demand with only a few simple clicks so that you don't have to maintain each warehouse product record individually. The fields that can be updated are:

The data can be pushed to a warehouse only if (1) the inventory class of the warehouse is set to sellable inventory and (2) the selected product record already exists in the warehouse. If the warehouse product record does not exist, you can copy the global product record to the warehouse. For more information, refer to Copy a global product record to a warehouse.

When you click this Warehouse Product Updates button, the Warehouse Product Updates dialog box is displayed. For information about this dialog box, refer to descriptions of the Warehouse Product Updates dialog box.

Note that this button is available only if the following conditions are met:

  • The product record that is displayed must be a warehouse product record, not a global product record.

  • The warehouse must have its inventory class set to sellable inventory. The inventory class of a warehouse is established in the Inventory Class drop-down list on the Main screen of the Warehouse maintenance.

  • If you have made changes to any of the fields in the warehouse product record, you have saved those changes.
