If a product that you have added to an order meets any of the following criteria, the system puts the product on price hold:
The gross profit percent of the item (price minus cost divided by price) is above a value specified in the Maximum GP % field in Company File Maintenance.
The gross profit percent of the item is below a value specified in the Minimum GP % field in Company File Maintenance.
The price or cost of an item is zero.
One check box on the Product Management tab can also affect whether or not a line item is placed on price hold:
The Price Hold Bypass check box on the Costs/Price screen allows you to prevent a product from ever being placed on price hold. This is especially useful for such products as services.
One check box on the Pricing tab can also affect whether or not a line item is placed on price hold if the product is on a contract:
The Bypass Price Hold check box on the Contract Pricing screen of the Pricing Configuration maintenance allows you to prevent a product from ever being placed on price hold.
The Current Order screen on the Customer Service tab is where the system notifies you if any line items in the order you are entering are on price hold. You can also remove a price hold from a product on this screen if you have the proper security privileges. Orders that are still on price hold are listed in My Follow-up queue on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab.
Note: To remove a price hold on a product in the line item area on the Current Order screen of the Customer Service tab, you must have the proper security privileges. The Price Hold Override job function needs to be assigned to one of your roles. Roles are assigned to users in the User Maintenance on the Security Maintenance screen of the Vision Configuration tab. For more information, refer to About roles and job functions.
On the Customer Service tab, click the Current Order button. The Current Order screen appears.
In the Product listing at the bottom of the screen, any line item that has the Price Hold symbol () in the Line column is on price hold.
If a price hold issue exists, do one of the following:
Leave the line item(s) on price hold. The order will remain on price hold until someone resolves the price hold issue. Vision will automatically create a new follow-up activity for this order and add it to your queue on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab.
In the Product listing, click the row of the line item on price hold. If you have the proper security privileges, the Price Hold check box is available. A ScreenTip identifying the reason for the price hold is shown. (Click Price hold reason to see a sample.) To remove the price hold from this line item, clear the Price Hold check box and click the Accept Line button. If any other line items are on price hold, you can do the same thing for each of those items. Once all of the line items are off of price hold, click the Accept Order button.
On the Home Page tab, click the Home Page button. The Home Page screen appears.
In My Follow-up queue, click the follow-up activity that pertains to the order that is on price hold. (PriceHold is listed in the Event column for an order on price hold.) If the follow-up activity is not listed in the queue, you may need to adjust the viewing options of My Follow-up queue first.
