Override a price

The line item area on the Current Order screen of the Customer Service tab is where you override a price.

The prices of customer-owned products cannot be overridden. In addition, the following must be true to override the price of a product:

— or —

If the gross profit is not within the permitted range, the operator can enter the proper password and accept it.

The company-defined gross profit percent range is specified in Vision Back Office.

Note: To override the price of a product in the line item area on the Current Order screen of the Customer Service tab, you must have the proper security privileges. The Product Price Override job function needs to be assigned to one of your roles. Roles are assigned to users in the User Maintenance on the Security Maintenance screen of the Vision Configuration tab. For more information, refer to About roles and job functions.

To override a price

  1. On the Customer Service tab, click the Current Order button. The Current Order screen appears.

  2. In the Product listing at the bottom of the screen, select the product whose price you would like to override.

  1. Select the Override Price check box. The display-only Price Source field changes to a maintainable Price Level drop-down list if the following are true:

  2. The current customer is a price level customer.

  3. The product ordered has a corresponding price level price established.

  4. The price level price meets the price checks that the system considers. For example, if the price level price is greater than the list price, the price level price will not be offered. Therefore, the Price Level drop-down list would not be displayed. (For more information on prices, refer to Understand how prices are determined.)

The default in the Price Level drop-down list is the price level set up for the customer on the Pricing form of the Customer Maintenance tab. You can override this default here.

  1. In the Unit Price field, type the price.

  2. Click the Accept Line button. The line item is added to the Product listing at the bottom of the screen.

If the gross profit from the overridden price and cost is not within the company-defined range, a warning message will be displayed, allowing you to override the price if you enter the proper password.
