Adding Alternates to an Order

If one or more alternate products have been set for a product, Vision displays the alternate icon ( icon_alternate50.jpg) on the Current Order <F4> screen and on the Part <F5> screen .  This is true for these screens whether under the Customer Service tab or the Retail/POS tab. If both alternate and companion products are set, Vision displays the alternate/companion icon (icon_AltsCmps50.jpg).

Add an Alternate to an Order

The Vision graphical interface makes it easy to add an alternate product to an order with just a few clicks of the mouse.

 

From the Current Order <F4> screen:

These steps assume that you started an order and that you know the part number your customer needs, so you entered it directly into the Part Number field on the Current Order screen.

  1. Click the icon_alternate50.jpg icon.

 

  • If both alternates and companions exist for the current product and the companion items are in stock at the current warehouse, the system displays the icon_AltsCmps50.jpg icon instead of the icon_alternate50.jpg icon.

The system changes focus to the Part <F5 > screen and automatically displays the Alternates tab in the product details as shown at right.

Because the alternate has an available quantity, we'll use that part for the order.

  1. Right-click on the alternate product under the Alternates tab in the product details.

  2. Click View Product Details in the shortcut menu.

The system displays the alternate part as the active part, presenting its details as shown at right.

  1. Adjust quantity and unit of measure (UOM) in the Quick Order section, if necessary.

  2. Click Add to Order.

  1. Click Current Order.

The system displays the alternate part as a line item on the current order.

From the Part <F5> screen:

These steps assume that you started an order and you used the Part <F5> screen to perform a part lookup that resulted in two matches.

  1. Select the desired part.

  2. Scroll the sub-tab view to Alternates

  3. Click the Alternates sub-tab.

  4. Right-click on the alternate product you want.

  5. Click View Product Details on the shortcut menu.
