Specify the product's primary location in the warehouse

The Locations screen of the Product Management tab is where you assign a primary location in the warehouse to a product.

The warehouse location of a product is set up at the warehouse product level, not at the global product level. It is not possible to set up the warehouse location of a product at the global product level.

To specify the product's primary location in the warehouse

  1. Select the warehouse product on the Product Lookup screen of the Product Management tab if you have not already done so. (For instructions on how to do this, refer to Select a product.)

  2. On the Product Management tab, click the Locations button. The Locations screen appears.

  3. In the Primary area:

  4. In the Location field, type the primary location in the warehouse. If the warehouse is a pick-by product warehouse, the type of location must be bin.

  5. In the Minimum field, type the product's minimum quantity to be maintained in the primary location. The primary replenishment process uses this field to ensure that the minimum quantity is maintained. The maximum quantity allowed in this field is 999,999,999.

  6. In the Maximum field, type product's maximum quantity to be maintained in the primary location. The primary replenishment process uses this field to ensure that the maximum quantity is not exceeded. The maximum quantity allowed in this field is 999,999,999.

  1. If you are changing the primary location in the Location field, you can select the warehouse employee in the Moved By drop-down list who moved the product. This enables the appropriate employee to receive credit for performing the work. For more information, refer to Overview of warehouse productivity.

Note: The Moved By drop-down list is available if you change the warehouse location in the Location field. This Moved By drop-down list includes only employees who have an employee type of Warehouse. An employee's type is identified in the Employee Type drop-down list in the Employee maintenance, which is available from the Miscellaneous Information folder on the System Configuration screen of the Vision Configuration tab.

  1. Click the Accept button to save your changes.
