When you are using the Product screen of the Customer Service tab, the Lost Sales dialog box may appear. (For background on when the Lost Sales dialog box appears, refer to Identify lost sales. For details on the Current Order screen, refer to Field and button descriptions of the Current Order screen.)
Descriptions of the fields and buttons on the Lost Sales dialog box are provided in the following table.
Field or button |
Description |
This is a display-only field that identifies the product number that you typed on the Product screen. |
Type the customer number in this field if appropriate. If the current order already has an active warehouse (in other words, if you had already selected a customer on the Customer Service tab), that customer number is listed in this field by default. You may override the default customer by typing another valid customer number. |
Select the appropriate manufacturer from this drop-down list. If this is an out-of-stock product, the default for this field is the manufacturer selected for this product or part on the product record. |
Type the quantity that is considered a lost sale. For example, let's say that a customer requests 4 widgets but the warehouse has only 1 in stock. Since the customer cannot buy the entire quantity from this warehouse, he decides to shop elsewhere. In this case, you would type 4 in the Quantity field. |
In this field, type any comments that you would like to include for the lost sale. For example, if the product or part is for an automobile, you would type in this field the part application information such as the make, model, and year of the car; this helps the purchasing department identify the product or part. If this is a product that is currently not in product database, the Notes field is a required field. If this is an out-of-stock product, the Notes field is not a required field. |
