When you are entering a standard order, a credit memo pickup, or a credit memo one step, you need to either specify one of the following options from the Action area for each line item or accept the default option:
Sale: for a product being sold. This option is available only if standard is selected as the order type.
Credit: for issuing a credit or debit for a product. This option is available only if C/M pickup or C/M one step is selected as the order type.
Inventory Return: for a product that is being returned and is in a sellable condition. If appropriate, you can add a restocking fee to the line item if this Action option is selected.
If the order type is standard or C/M one step, the on-hand quantity of the warehouse selected for the current order is increased as soon as the order is accepted to reflect the addition of the product being returned.
If the order type is C/M pickup, the on-hand quantity is increased at verification time.
Warranty: for a product that is being returned and is still under warranty. A credit is applied to the order for the warranty item. The credit is prorated based on the warranty schedule selected for the product. If no warranty schedule is selected, a full credit is applied to the order.
If the order type is standard or C/M one step, the on-hand quantity of the warranty warehouse is increased as soon as the order is accepted to reflect the addition of the warranty product being returned.
If the order type is C/M pickup, the on-hand quantity is increased at verification time.
Core: for a product core that is being returned. A credit is applied to the order for the core item.
If the order type is standard or C/M one step, the on-hand quantity of the core warehouse is increased as soon as the order is accepted to reflect the addition of the core being returned.
If the order type is C/M pickup, the on-hand quantity is increased at verification time.
Note: You can specify an option from the Action area only if you are entering a new order; if you are maintaining an existing order, you cannot switch the line item to a different Action option. Also note that if the order type is one step, rebill, or quote, you cannot select an option in the Action area.
The Current Order screen on the Customer Service tab is where you select an Action option for a line item.
On the Customer Service tab, click the Current Order button. The Current Order screen appears.
If you have not yet entered the line item for the product or part, do so. (For more information, refer to Add a product to the current order.)
To select the line item whose Action option you would like to specify, click the corresponding line item in the Current Order listing at the bottom of the Current Order screen.
In the Action area, select the appropriate option. Valid options are:
Sale (if the Standard option is selected in the Order Type area)
Credit (if the C/M Pickup option or the C/M One Step option is selected in the Order Type area)
Inventory Return
Warranty
Core (This option is not available if the product's core price and core cost are both $0.00.)
If this line item is the first line item on the order, the default option for this Action area is Sale (if the order type is standard) or Credit (if the order type is C/M pickup or C/M one step). You can override it if necessary. If this is a subsequent line item, the default for the Action area is whatever option was selected for the immediately preceding line item.

Note: If the selected Action option is Inventory Return, Warranty, or Core, and if the Standard option or the C/M One Step option is selected in the Order Type area, then the inventory is available upon acceptance of the order, not upon acceptance of the line item.
