When you are setting up or maintaining a warehouse or store in your system, you can specify its supporting warehouses. Four types of supporting warehouses are available:
Core warehouse: This is a warehouse that has an inventory class of core. Cores are the portions of certain products that can be reconditioned and reused. Core warehouses contain core products that customers have returned to you for a credit. You can return those cores to the vendor for a credit.
Warranty warehouse: This is a warehouse that has an inventory class of warranty. Warranty warehouses contain products that are still under warranty but that customers returned. Warranty inventory is stored in a warranty warehouse until it is returned to the vendor for a credit.
Scrap warehouse: This is a warehouse that has an inventory class of scrap. Scrap warehouses contain scraps that you can track for a tax write-off.
Replenishment warehouse: This is a warehouse that replenishes other warehouses with its own stock through transfer orders.
When a customer returns a core or warranty product and a customer service rep processes it on the Customer Service tab, the system updates the on-hand quantity of the core or warranty warehouse accordingly. For information on how to process core and warranty returns from a customer, refer to Select the appropriate Action option for a line item.
The Warehouse maintenance on the System Configuration screen of the Vision Configuration tab is where you specify the supporting warehouses for a warehouse.
Note: A replenishment warehouse can be selected for a warehouse only if the warehouse's inventory class is sellable inventory. For more information, refer to Specify the type of inventory that a warehouse carries.
Note: To access the Warehouse maintenance, you must have the proper security privileges. The File Maintenance Warehouse job function needs to be assigned to one of your roles. Roles are assigned to users in the User Maintenance on the Security Maintenance screen of the Vision Configuration tab. For more information, refer to About roles and job functions.
On the Vision Configuration tab, click the System Configuration button. The System Configuration screen appears.
Click the Warehouse folder to expand its contents.
Click the folder for the warehouse whose supporting warehouses you would like to specify.
Click the Main folder. The Main screen appears.
If the inventory class of the warehouse you are modifying is sellable inventory, select the core, warranty, and scrap warehouses in the Supporting Warehouses area:
In the Core Whse drop-down list, select the warehouse that should receive the core returns for the current warehouse. Only warehouses that have an inventory class of core are available from this drop-down list.
In the Warranty Whse drop-down list, select the warehouse that should receive the warranty returns for the current warehouse. Only warehouses that have an inventory class of warranty are available from this drop-down list.
In the Scrap Whse drop-down list, select the warehouse that should receive the scrap products for the current warehouse. Only warehouses that have an inventory class of scrap are available from this drop-down list.
If most products in this warehouse should be replenished by another warehouse, select the replenishment warehouse in the Repl Whse drop-down list.
If this warehouse replenishes other warehouses with its own stock, do not select a warehouse in the Repl Whse drop-down list.
Click the Accept button to save your changes.
