Create or modify Home Page messages

The Company News and Special Alert messages available in Vision serve as online announcement boards, enabling you to communicate information to all users of Vision at your company. These messages are displayed prominently in Vision on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab, which is always the first screen displayed when any user first logs on to the system.

Examples of messages that you might want to post in these areas include an announcement about a new account, a sales target, a reminder about an upcoming vendor visit to your office, a welcome note for a new employee, and a motivational quote.

The Dealer Messages maintenance on the System Configuration screen of the Vision Configuration tab is where you set up and maintain these system-wide messages for your Vision software.

Note: To access the Dealer Messages maintenance, you must have the proper security privileges. The File Maintenance Admin job function needs to be assigned to one of your roles. Roles are assigned to users in the User Maintenance on the Security Maintenance screen of the Vision Configuration tab. For more information, refer to About roles and job functions.

To create or modify Home Page messages

  1. On the Vision Configuration tab, click the System Configuration button. The System Configuration screen appears.

  2. Click the Dealer Information folder to expand its contents.

  3. Click the Dealer Messages subfolder. The Dealer Messages screen appears.

  4. To create or modify the Company News message, type the new or revised message in the Company News box.

This box uses the same font style and font size as the Company News message on the Home Page screen, so you'll be able to see exactly how the Company News will look on the Home Page when you type it in this box.

  1. To create or modify the Special Alert message, type the new or revised message in the Special Alert Marquee box.

  1. Click the Accept button. The next time a user logs on to the system, the Company News and/or the Special Alert are displayed on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab.
