The Special Alerts area appears on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab if any urgent alert messages exist. The special alert message is scrolling, repeating text. Two types of special alert messages are available in Vision:
A global message that is displayed to inform all Vision users about critical alerts, such as a system administrator's warning about a virus. This type of message is set up on the System Configuration screen of the Vision Configuration tab.
A system-generated message that is displayed if urgent or high-priority items are listed in My Follow-up queue, but they are hidden from view because of the display options (Sources, Event, Priority, or Follow-up Dates) you have chosen. If such a notification message is displayed, the color of the text in the Special Alerts area is changed from black to red. If you change your display options, this special notification message is removed from the Special Alerts area, and the color of the text is changed to black.
If both types of messages are needed, the Special Alerts area shows the global message first, followed by the user-specific message, and the text changes to red. If the Special Alert area is not shown on the Home Page screen, then no global message has been set up, and no user-specific message is needed.
