Demand price levels in Vision provide you with added pricing flexibility. For example, let's say that one of your customers keeps products or parts in stock. When they are running low on a part, they order a large quantity from you. On such occasions, you may want to offer them a special discount by giving them a particular price level price. However, if they need to place an order for a low quantity — maybe one or two of a particular part — at some point outside their normal ordering cycle, you may want to charge them a higher one-time price, a special demand price level price.
Demand pricing enables you to designate that a selected order entered for a customer will have special demand price level pricing. Demand pricing is available for an order if the following conditions apply:
The order is a standard order.
A demand price level is selected for this customer on the Pricing screen of the Customer Maintenance tab.
The Action option selected for each of the line items on the order is Sale. If any of the other Action options (Inventory Return, Warranty, or Core) are selected for any line item during entry or maintenance of the current order, demand pricing is not available for this order.
In addition, if the current order is being maintained on the Customer Service tab (in other words, if it is an existing order being updated instead of a new order being created), demand pricing is available only if a credit hold or operator hold had been on the order.
The Demand Order check box on the Current Order screen of the Customer Service tab is where you specify whether or not demand price levels should be used to price the items on an order.
On the Customer Service tab, click the Current Order button. The Current Order screen appears.
If the Order Details area is not visible, click the Order Details button.
Select the Demand Order check box. Note that this check box is available only if the following conditions apply:
The order is a standard order.
A demand price level has been assigned to the customer. (A demand price level is selected for a customer on the Pricing screen of the Customer Maintenance tab.)
The Action option selected for each of the line items on the order is Sale. If any of the other Action options (Inventory Return, Warranty, or Core) are selected for any line item during entry or maintenance of the current order, the Demand Order check box is made unavailable and demand pricing is not possible.
In addition, if the current order is being maintained on the Customer Service tab (in other words, if it is an existing order being updated instead of a new order being created), demand pricing is available only if a credit hold or operator hold had been on the order.
For any of the order's products or parts that have a price corresponding with the customer's price level, the screen is changed automatically: the Price Source field in the Line Item area changes to a Price Level field. In addition, the customer's price level is displayed in this Price Level field.
You may manually override the a demand price level price of a line item. (For more information, refer to Override a price.) However, demand pricing takes precedence over contract pricing, standard customer price level pricing, and customer discounting. For more information, refer to Understand how prices are determined.
Note: If you select the Demand Order check box on the Current Order screen and then do any of the following, demand pricing is removed from the current order: (1) Change the order type to something other than standard. (2) Select a customer who does not have a demand price level selected on the Customer Maintenance tab. (3) Change the Action option of a new or an existing line item to anything other than Sale.
