The Customer Profile screen on the Customer Service tab is where you conduct customer searches and select a customer for the current order.
A customer profile is a summary of basic information about and buying habits for a customer. At a glance, you can view bill to information, contact information, monthly order patterns, general account activity, and pricing information about the customer. A graph of 12-month sales is shown to help you spot buying pattern trends for the customer. You can also find out how many ship to locations have been entered in Vision for this customer.
On the Customer Service tab, click the Customer Profile button. The Customer Profile screen appears.
The Customer field is a combination text box and drop-down list; this enables you to specify a customer in one of two ways:
In the Customer field, type one of the following:
The customer's name, or part of it
The customer number
The customer's phone number
— or —
In the Customer drop-down list, select a recent entry. A maximum of your 10 most-recent entries are listed in the drop-down list.
To help you refine your search, the system applies company and sales rep filters by default.
For the company and sales rep filters, the defaults are My Companies and My Sales Representatives, respectively. The My Companies option is a valid company or a list of valid companies that are associated with your user ID, if any are established in the User Maintenance on the Security Maintenance screen of the Vision Configuration tab. Likewise, the My Sales Representatives option is a sales rep or a list of valid sales reps who are associated with your user ID, if any are established in the User Maintenance. For more information, refer to Valid Companies and Valid Sales People.
To refine your search and see more targeted search results, you can conduct an advanced search by following a few other steps:
Click the Options button.
In the Search On area, select which criterion you would like to search by.
In the Search Filters area, select one or more options from the filter lists if you would like to narrow your search.
Note: To override the company filter default, you must have the proper security privileges. The Override Company Filter job function needs to be assigned to one of your roles. Roles are assigned to users in the User Maintenance on the Security Maintenance screen of the Vision Configuration tab.
Click the Search button or press Enter.
If only one customer meets your search criteria, the corresponding customer information is provided on the Customer Profile screen.
If more than one customer meets your search criteria, the corresponding customers are identified in the customer listing at the bottom of the Customer Profile screen. To select the appropriate customer for the current order, click the appropriate row in the listing.
To view how many ship to locations are available for this customer, refer to the No. of Ship To's column in the listing.
Notice that once you have selected a customer, the customer number and name are added to the Active Data Bar. The number of the default ship to location is also added. If the order should be sent to a different ship to location, or if you need to view the ship to address of any of the ship to numbers, please refer to Switch the ship to address for the current order.
