Operator holds

An operator hold indicates that the order should not be processed until you take the order off of hold. An operator hold is useful if, after entering a long order, your customer tells you that he or she will call you back later in the day with additions.

Stock is reserved for orders on hold. Non-stock items are not purchased until the order is taken off of hold. This means that the hold should be removed before your purchasing agent makes your last buy of the day.

The Current Order screen on the Customer Service tab is where you place an order on hold or remove an operator hold. Orders that are still on operator hold are listed in My Follow-up queue on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab.

To place an order on operator hold

  1. On the Customer Service tab, click the Current Order button. The Current Order screen appears.

  2. Select the Operator Hold check box.

  3. Make any other necessary changes to the order.

  4. Click the Accept Order button.

Vision will automatically create a new follow-up activity for this order and add it to your queue on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab.

To take an order off of operator hold

  1. On the Home Page tab, click the Home Page button. The Home Page screen appears.

  2. In My Follow-up queue, click the follow-up activity that pertains to the order that you would like to take off of operator hold. (OperHold is listed in the Event column for an order on operator hold.) If the follow-up activity is not listed in the queue, you may need to adjust the viewing options of My Follow-up queue first.

The Current Order screen on the Customer Service tab appears, and the order on operator hold is shown.

  1. Clear the Operator Hold check box.

  2. Make any necessary changes to the order, such as the ship to location (on the Ship Tos screen) or product quantities.

  3. Click the Accept Order button.

Vision will automatically remove the follow-up activity for this order from your queue on the Home Page screen of the Home Page tab.
