Follow the
steps below to prepare your desktop computer system to run the Vision
Enterprise application.
Step 1: Install Microsoft's .NET 2.0
Framework
Windows XP: Most Windows XP Computers
will already have .net framework 2.0 installed. IF the PC does not have it,
install it by clicking on the link above.
The link will take you to windowsupdate.microsoft.com, you will need
to select the custom updates after the scan has completed. You will need
to click on the optional software install on the left hand pane, once they are
displayed make sure you select the .NET Framework 2.0 and all available patches
for it. Once the selection has been made install the updates and
then reboot your system as directed from the update site.
Right Click
on the link http://vision.epicor.com/fix_dotnet_2.zip
and select “save target as..” and save on desktop. Extract the zip file and
Right-Click on the extracted file and select run as Administrator and run it.
Create a
shortcut on the desktop to start Vision: Copy the line http://Vision_server_IP/visionenterprise/VisionEnterpriseBootstrap.exe, right-click on desktop, select create new shortcut, paste
the line, change the IP address to your Vision server IP and hit next and name
it Epicor Vision.
Windows Vista/Windows 7 Professional:
Your
PC may already have .Net 2 Framework installed. If not, you can install it from
the link above. Now you need to adjust permission for .Net 2 Framework. Click
on the link http://vision.epicor.com/fix_dotnet_2.zip
and save it on your desktop, extract the zip file and right-click and select run as Administrator
and run it. If you are still experiencing problem starting Vision software,
please check the link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/user-account-control
for Windows security settings. Change UAC to lowest level.
**Your
computer should be on the latest service pack and you should have all the
available critical updates installed on the computer.**
Create a shortcut on your Desktop to start Vision using one
of the option below – 32 or 64-bit.
Note: Replace the word "Vision_server_IP" in the line below to your Vision Server IP address.
On 32-bit PC: Copy the entire line
below, on your desktop right-click select create new shortcut, and paste line,
change the IP address, hit next and name it Epicor Vision.

On 64-bit PC: Copy the entire line
below, on your desktop right-click select create new shortcut, and paste line,

Windows
8.1
Vision runs
on Windows 8.1 with a hotfix issued from Microsoft. The hotfix from Microsoft
is not publically available yet. They will release that along with the next
service pack of Windows 8.1 and we do not have a date for that.
However, if you want to get the hotfix before
they release it for public, you can call Microsoft and ask for the hotfix for
“Microsoft KB Article Number 2926995”. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2926995
Step
2 – Trust Vision server IP address in Internet Explorer.
Finally,
you need to add the Vision Enterprise web server to your system's list of trusted
sites. The easiest way to do this is to use Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Start
Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
The Internet Options dialog box appears.
Click the Security tab.
Click the Trusted Sites option.
Click the Sites button. The Trusted Sites
dialog box appears.
Uncheck the Required server
verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check
box.
In the Add this Web site to the zone field,
type the following: http://Vision_server_IP
Click the Add button. The Vision web site is
added to the list in the Web sites box.
Click OK to save your changes and close the
Trusted Sites dialog box.
Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog
box.
When you're
finished, you're ready to run!
